In 1979, he started his own carpentry subcontracting company, J.T. Theodore Incorporated, specializing in finish carpentry, cabinetry, and commercial interiors. After building his business and reputation within the construction industry, Jim returned to the real estate market as a landlord, investing in residential rental properties in New Hampshire. With ties to the Killington, VT ski area as a professional skier and former US Ski team Coach, he expanded into the Rutland, VT area, acquiring several rental properties and establishing JTT Properties.
