Our History
Founded by Mike Mikkelson in 1988, Liberty Investment Properties began as a family-led investment firm with a keen focus on long-term relationships and challenging the status quo. After building the first Self Storage facility near International Drive in Orlando, Florida, Mike and his wife Melissa proved their ability to perform, despite the challenging economic climate, and the facility leased up in just under a year. Since 2005, Adam Mikkelson, son of Mike and Melissa, has joined the team and built out the legacy of Liberty Investment Properties, starting as a storage manager and effectively cycling through multiple roles throughout the organization within hospitality and self-storage. In 2021, Adam purchased Liberty and now leads all the investment efforts as President and CEO.
