Our Team

*John Papazian*

John Papazian, the founder and former President of Haiku Properties, established the company in the late seventies after graduating with honors from Stanford University. Instead of pursuing a law degree, John chose to make Maui his home and real estate investment and development his work. He met his German wife on Maui and convinced her to stay and raise a family.

*Diana Papazian*

Diana Papazian, John's daughter, was born and raised on Maui and attended New York University. She then studied abroad in Europe before joining the family business. Diana split her time between Vancouver, BC; Maui; and Los Angeles, managing investment projects off island and engaging in Haiku Properties' brokerage and development enterprises on Maui. Following in her father's footsteps, Diana earned her broker's license and now serves as principal broker of Haiku Properties.

*Alex Papazian*

Alex Papazian, John's son, was born in Germany and raised on Maui. He graduated from Pomona College in Claremont, California. After working in the hedge fund industry, he moved to London for graduate school at the London School of Economics, where he studied philosophy and economics. Another corporate job in finance convinced him to move back to Maui in 2017 to join the family business.

*Michael Hunt*

Michael Hunt, a local to Northern California, graduated from Humboldt State University. His love for the outdoors and laid-back lifestyle brought him to Maui in 2012. After building and remodeling homes for 5 years, he joined Haiku Properties in 2017. His eye for detail and knowledge of construction have been an asset to his career in real estate. Michael now splits his time between Maui and California where he is also a licensed agent.

*Jason McFarlin, Esq.*

Jason McFarlin, a practicing attorney in the State of Hawaii, joined Haiku Properties in 2021 to complement his law practices. He graduated first in his class at the University of Hawaii, West Oahu, and attended Mitchell Hamline School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota, on a full scholarship, where he graduated with honors. Jason is dedicated to resolving legal issues in a way that protects his clients' assets, minimizes their costs, and maximizes their profits.

Haiku Properties Projects

Since its inception, Haiku Properties has acted as principal in a number of subdivisions and other real estate investments. Our experience in subdivisions and real estate investments helps inform the agency and advice we provide clients to help them understand the local market, zoning, other relevant State and County regulations, and issues with construction and engineering.

Some of our current developments include:

• Piiholo North: A ten-lot subdivision located three minutes from Makawao Town, offering expansive ocean and mountain views with a large ravine, a stream, and waterfalls.
• Nalu Ola: Fourteen existing lots comprise the first buildable land on the ocean side of Hana Highway east of Mama's Fish House, with eight ocean-front lots along the bluffs and all with spectacular ocean and mountain views.
• Hoku Hills Estates: A three-lot subdivision located in the Calasa region of Lower Kula, offering unobstructed bicoastal and Haleakala views.
